Little Blue Heron
The last couple of days have been great. I did a couple of very pleasant bike rides yesterday in shirtsleeves, watching my neighbors do yard work, and nearly running over a small group of Ibis that were crossing the road.
This is a photo of a Little Blue Heron that was looking for fish beneath the cover of some Mangrove trees. Herons seem to be very calm and unafraid of humans. In fact, I often see Great White Herons standing behind the people who are fishing from the beach on Lido Key, patiently waiting for the occasional handout. Little Blue Herons are sometimes so calm they look like they have fallen asleep, but I guess that it is a fishing technique that works for them.
