hot and humid

The last few weeks have been like summer.  Not that I’m really complaining. It’s a lot better than the cold.

This was taken opposite the entrance to where I go to do most of my bird photography.  The fenced in area is a cow field.  There are often cows there when I arrive, making the occasional mooing calls to each other.  Off in the distance is “big cat refuge” that gives a home to lions and tigers that, presumably, zoos no longer want.  The first time you hear the distant roar of a lion mixed in with the moo noises of the cows it can be pretty weird.

If you turn around 180 degrees from this perspective there is a wetland that was created by the city to absorb the runoff from storms.  It also turned out to be a great refuge for birds, and therefore the bird watchers.
