Mottled or Muddled

A Mottled Duck.  Some people jokingly call it a Muddled Duck because it interbreeds with Mallards and gets the odd coloring that you can see in this photo.  The site “allaboutbirds.org” calls it “hybridization”.  They are mainly found in Florida and near the water along the Gulf Coast over into Texas. They are very common here and I saw a lot of them this Spring when I was out with my camera at the Celery Fields nature area.
