Parakeet Chicks

The Nanday Parakeet chicks that live in the old abandoned Woodpecker hole drilled into one of the telephone poles near the Celery Fields wetland have finally started poking their heads out.  I was surprised how large they are.

  1. Thanks. I guess I should have mentioned in the post that these are South American birds common in Brazil and Argentina and are in South Western Florida (and parts of California too, I think) because they were pets that escaped from people’s houses. I suppose officially they would be considered an Invasive Species but I like them.
