Sora
These photos represent a lot of work and just being in the right place at the right time. The Sora is small, very shy, and likes to stay in or near the tall grass in marshes. I’ve seen a few from a distance but never this close up. This one was feeding a few feet off a boardwalk and it popped out into the open long enough for me to get a couple of quick shots.
The allaboutbirds.org page on the Sora has a map that indicates Florida as a winter habitat, so this seems a bit early in the season to be spotting one.
Fabulous photography.
Excellent shots. Nice to get a front row seat!
