These are apparently found mainly in Florida, Southern Texas, and right along the Gulf Coast within the U.S. The Cornell site “allaboutbirds.org” says of Ground Doves: “Common Ground-Doves are relatively retiring”, so I guess that Florida makes sense. Ha.
I think that this is the first one I’ve ever seen. It landed on the railing of a boardwalk and posed for photos for a few minutes before flying off.
